Ringtones.mobi launched today. The mobi-site makes it easier for music fans to buy ringtones
and mobile-friendly wallpaper images from independent and established music
acts.
Ringtones.mobi, which is owned by Zameen Group, was created and is run by
Toronto-based ooober, a provider of mobile content management and marketplace
services, including self-serve storefronts and interactive text messaging
tools to help clients launch mobile...
 The .mobi site boasts a 1Series video that is available for streaming
on the site and download to the user’s mobile phone. Ringtones and
wallpapers are also available for download for free off the site,
featuring the 1Series Cabriolet and Coupe.
In addition to a Share option that allows users to refer their
friends to the site by text message, users can schedule a test drive at
their nearest location. Through the ‘Meet the 1Series’ link, users
navigate by province to find locations closest to them. Ease of use is
the top priority for this mobile site, with innovative features such
as Click to Call which directs retail location phone numbers to users
who can connect straight to the dealership to schedule a test drive.
BMW’s previous mobile forays include the BMW international site and
specific sites by country, but none specifically with a Canadian reach.
The 1series.mobi site offers wallpaper downloads accessible by most
phones, as well as ringtone downloads that work on the largest Canadian
networks, along with video downloads and streams.
Video streaming of the 1Series commercial is a seamless 30-second
clip that is also available for users to download. Ringtones are
available to be downloaded for free, featuring the two-time
International Engine of the Year “start up” and “gear shift” sounds of
the 1Series.
Three versions of the site were created: high end (XHTML), low end
(HTML), and the WML version for phones that do not support XHTML. This
allows for a larger reach for mobile accessibility, allowing users of
lower end Java phones to have the same experience as those on
Smartphones or Blackberries.

The Olympics are here and so is usaWaterpolo.mobi;
this is the official site of the USA Water Polo team and is designed to
help draw attention to the team's competition in the Beijing games. The
project was a joint effort between several companies, all working to help bring the spotlight onto one of the oldest games at the Olympics. The site itself was built by Gold Mobile, a leading provider of mobile enterprise, CRM and marketing solutions.
While I knew that the USA Water Polo site was in the pipeline, I was happily surprised to see patriots.mobi launch today as well. 
It's the official site of the New England Patriots (U.S.) football team
and has all the features you'd be looking for, including a full game
schedule, cheerleader photos and stadium driving directions.
These sites join a growing roster of sports-related .mobi sites like nba.mobi, wnba.mobi, ufc.mobi and espn.mobi.
And since nothing says "active" and "on the go" like sports, I think
it's the start of a long, happy relationship between sports and the
.mobi domain.
For the Dutchies MobilePioneers.com launched a mobisite with all statistics and news of the Olympics. We see below banner on a huge network of mobile websites.
Presumptive Democrat nominee uses .mobi for mobile web site.
United States Presidential candidate Barack Obama is leveraging the
mobile web to get his message out. His campaign is using
ObamaMobile.mobi.
The site does a good job providing interactivity despite mobile
limitations. For example, it provides a text response number and lets
users receive a whitepaper about Obama’s mobile plan via e-mail (since
downloading it on the phone wouldn’t work well).
The only unfortunate news is that this is a
long and poor domain name. Obama.mobi forwards to an Information.com
page. Even worse, ObamaMobile.com is owned by a New York firm.
ObamaMobile.com was registered prior to the Barack Obama campaign
picking up its domain name.
According to the dotMobi blog,
Republican candidate John McCain doesn’t have a mobile site.
JohnMcCain.mobi is registered by a company called “Campaign Solutions”.
McCainMobile.mobi isn’t registered yet, but McCainMobile.com is
registered by the same company that owns ObamaMobile.com.

I think this one is beta, because the possibilities arn't great. But, its live: SEDO.mobi Laurent Müllender, Sedo Product Manager, stated in a newsletter: Sedo is Now on Call! With the introduction of Sedo.mobi

Last week I saw a great ad for Bellen.mobi on the front page of national newspaper "DePers". The ad is for Bellen.mobi (Call.mobi in English). This .mobi website offers various mobile phones for sale on PC web and Mobiweb. I had contact with the owners and they are planning a huge marketing campaign in the Netherlands!  I'm proud to announce that we have a new sibling!
We're really pleased with how dev.mobi has grown over the last year
to become an independent authority for technical mobile professionals.
And now we're launching mobiThinking: dotMobi's new resource site and blog designed for anyone interested in mobile marketing, branding, and advertising.
We're seeing the mobile web mature like any new medium. It has been
initially powered and pioneered by technical enthusiasm. But now we are
seeing more and more interest from individuals, agencies and clients
who want to create business, campaigns, and other opportunities with
mobile. Now it's not so much about what can be done, but about what should be done in mobile - to thrill users and business owners alike.
Hopefully mobiThinking goes some way to help explain some of the
great opportunities in this area. Firstly, we've produced some
marketing best practice documents such as the 10 Mistakes in Mobile Marketing and Mobile SEO Best Practices guides.
Then we have a growing list of case studies of business that have gone live with successful mobile sites. We start with Fox News and Gypsy Tea.
Then, we've interviews with the great and the good from the mobile and marketing industries. And our launch feature is AKQA's Daniel Rosen talking about Smirnoff.mobi. (A great video: this man knows what he is talking about!)
There's a blog too. As with dev.mobi, you can follow the site through RSS (details here) and on Twitter via "mobithinking".
Finally, you'll probably notice we've launched a new nav-bar across
the top of all our sites. We realised we have so much going on now that
we could probably make it easier to get around between the sites and
services!
