The
$611k runner up
for Music.mobi -- C. Roussos from Cyprus and owner of several music.*
domains -- has settled the
Music.mobi case with Sedo and dotMobi.
As you may all well know he took both the mTLD and Sedo to court and
served them with an injunction and a lawsuit. During the last 4-5 weeks
his lawyers have been in negotiations with the dotMobi mTLD in light of
their final resolution proposal which required him to pay $616,000 for
the name.
Roussos stated:
I can not disclose the amount paid to the mTLD but it is in the
6-figures and additionally entertainment.mobi was also bought, paying
full-price in accordance to the mTLD final proposed resolution. The
transfer of both music.mobi and entertainment.mobi was a mixture of
final mTLD resolution proposal and an undisclosed settlement agreement.
We agreed on the mTLD's first settlement proposal and they would not
negotiate downwards despite my efforts to lower the settlement final
price. It was time to move on, close the Sedo Auction III chapter and
start developing the domain.
Everything was finalized yesterday and my legal proceedings in
Washingtone DC have been settled and finalized. I would like to thank
my lawyers Paul Farkas and Eric Mernhart for putting together a great
case as well as Andres for his efforts on this table, Chris, Paul,
Erwin and last but not least Alvaro for all of his efforts.
In regards to plans of development, I am already working on the mobile
implementation. Mobile music is expected to grow to $17.5 billion by
2012 so it is looking very bright for music.mobi. It will be
predominantly an advertising-supported model. Following a 360 degree
model music.mobi will enable artists to name their price or opt-in and
rev-share in ads while giving out their music for free. Additional
services will include merchandising, licensing, ticketing and musician
session hiring.
Entertainment.mobi will serve as a different service provider for
consumers. It will consist of music, TV, videos, movies, games, sports,
events and entertainment news.
I will keep you all posted.
